  • Marcel Hirscher won the Men's slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia on Sunday (6th March).

While elsewhere in Slovenia Mikaela Shiffrin romped to victory in a women's FIS World Cup slalom in Jasna on Sunday (6th March).

Heavy snowfall over night made the conditions challenging once more for the skiers, as the Men's World Cup slalom took place in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia on Sunday.

The men's slalom this year has been a contest between two the young Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen and the Austrian Marcel Hirscher.

Kristoffersen finished a disappointing seventh last time out in the slalom to give the Austrian Hirscher some encouragement for the slalom title.

Yet the 21-year-old was looking good on his first run and posted a time of one forty-seven.05 to hold a lead of almost half a second.

Going into the second run Hirscher knew that he needed to post below that time of Kristoffersen's to win the slalom.

And coming into the final of stretch Hirscher looked to be coasting ahead of that time.

The Austrian indeed beating that time by more than 800 hundreds of a second & now only 111 points off Kristoffersen in the Slalom standings.

Women's World Cup skiing returned to the Low Tatras mountain range in central Slovakia for the first time since 1984 on Sunday.

American Mikaela Shiffrin recorded a time of 58.04 seconds on the Lukova 2 piste, which was 1.67 seconds faster then closest rival, and crowd favourite, Veronika Velez Zuzulova.

Velez Zuzulova put pressure on Shiffrin on her second run moving into second spot to delight of the home crowd.

However, she ultimately settled for third place as the 20-year-old Shiffrin still finished 2.36 seconds clear of the competition.
