Fenway Park transformed for snowboarding event

Friday, February 12 2016 by SNTV
  • Skiing and snowboarding is taking over Fenway Park this week, and riders got some practice runs in on Wednesday, 10 February.

Baseball is still several months away, but Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox is still attracting a crowd.

With the city and stadium covered in snow, the US Ski and Snowboard Association is holding the Polartec Big Air at Fenway on February 11th and 12th.

An officially sanctioned US Grand Prix Tour competition, the event will feature some of the world's top skiers and snowboarders competing on a 140 foot high snow ramp, nealy four times the height of Fenway's famed Green Monster.

Competitors took to the ramp for a number of practise runs ahead of the event that will feature an elite group of Olympians.

Men and women's big air snowboarding will debut at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.
