    Team Brunel arrived in Cape Town to secure third place in the first leg of the Volvo Ocean Race on Wednesday (5th November).

    Team Brunel finished third in the first leg of the Volvo Ocean Race.

    After 25 days at sea, racing in the leading pack, skipper Bouwe Bekking and his crew crossed Cape Town's finish line at 19:33GMT.

    Bekking's team finished the leg in 25 days, seven hours 33 minutes and 25 seconds.

    Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing won a tight contest at the front of the fleet, their time of 25 days, three hours, 10 minutes and 44 seconds just 12 minutes faster than that of Dongfeng Race Team.

    With three boats moored, four remain out at sea.

    Vestas are in position to finish in fourth place, but as of the time of Team Brunel's finish they were also the slowest of the remaining boats, travelling at just five knots.

    At that time Vestas had 201 nautical miles left to travel, while Team Alvimedica are 99 nautical miles behind them.
