World Rallycross Championship leader Petter Solberg was once again in dominant form in round eight at Loheac in France.

The 2003 World Rally champion didn't have the ultimate pace throughout the heat stages, but led the final from lights to flag to claim his third win of the season.

Peugeot driver Timmy Hansen had dominated the heats but a poor start in his semi-final demoted him to the second row for the final, from where he claimed third spot on the podium, behind Solberg and Reinis Nitiss.

At just 18-years-old and in his first year of racing at this level, Latvian Nitiss is 21 years younger than Solberg but showed great tactical maturity to claim second place.

Solberg said he was delighted to extend his lead at the top of the standings:

SOUNDBITE (English): Petter Solberg, FIA World Rallycross Championship leader:

"It feels unbelievable, tired, exhausted, sweaty, and a very, very tough weekend."

Solberg follows up his success in Canada last month, when he became the first driver to win a Rallycross round held outside of Europe.
