This is what it all comes down to. California's Auto Club Fontana super-speedway witnessed the IndyCar season finale on Saturday, with Australia's Will Power aiming to win his first ever championship.

Team-mate Helio Castroneves took the lead in lap 157, and was only a point behind Power for the overall title.

Ryan Hunter-Reay and Tony Kanaan narrowly avoided the first flag when both drivers deftly avoided Charlie Kimball.

But on lap 175, Hunter-Reay lost control of his car and spun onto the grass for the first yellow. The American was able to hold onto the car, and finished the race in 16th position.

Castroneves' title hopes were dashed when he was hit with a drive-through penalty for a pit entry violation with 31 laps to go, sliding out of the groove onto the track on his way into the pits.

That enabled Kanaan to take the win whilst Power's ninth-placed finish secured his first ever IndyCar title.
