Jari-Matti Latvala won his second Rally of Finland on Sunday (3 August), holding off the challenge of Volkswagen team-mate Sebastien Ogier.

Jari-Matti Latvala resisted huge pressure from Volkswagen team-mate Sebastien Ogier to clinch his second career Rally of Finland victory on Sunday.

The Finn dominated his home event early on, escaping from the chasing Ogier and Kris Meeke and establishing a 31-second lead halfway through the rally.

Then a hard impact in a rut on Saturday afternoon damaged his brakes, leaving Latvala without stopping power on his right-front wheel for three and a half stages.

Ogier immediately charged back into victory contention, beginning Sunday's three-stage decider just three seconds behind Latvala.

There was nothing to choose between the VW duo through the final leg, with Latvala bringing his lead back up to five seconds in the opener.

Ogier then took 1.3 seconds back on the next stage.

Ogier was faster by one tenth on the Powerstage to claim maximum bonus points.

But it was Latvala that took the win, his first at the Rally of Finland since 2010.

Meeke ended the weekend in third, a performance that could prove to be a breakthrough and help him remain at Citroen in the 2015 season.
