  • Intro:

Sebastien Bourdais and Mike Conway each won a race as IndyCar completed a doubleheader in Toronto on Sunday (20 July).

    Script:

The IndyCar series had planned to run one Honda Indy Toronto race on Saturday and one on Sunday, until rain washed out the first event.
Instead, the first race was rescheduled for Sunday morning.

They came an almost immediate halt when a multicar crash led to a red flag on the opening lap.

After a long delay, racing resumed with Bourdais leading the field to green.

He never really had to look back and led all but six of the 65 laps, he was able to cruise unchallenged to the chequered flag with Castroneves in second.

As in the first race, there was an early caution in the second. Kanaan, running right behind Juan Pablo Montoya, had an issue with his steering and nearly ran into the tyre wall in Turn 3.

Ten laps later a slick track sent Montoya hard into the tyres in Turn 8. James Hinchcliffe came sliding in behind him and made contact before hitting the rubber as well.

Mike Conway gambled and made an early stop to remove his rain tyres. He quickly moved through the field and into the lead. The race had been scheduled to run 65 laps or 80 minutes and then became a timed race.

A multi-car accident stopped the clock for a cleanup with four minutes and 32 seconds remaining. Conway pulled away on the restart and easily held off Kanaan to take the chequered flag.

    Power completed the podium.
