  • Intro:

The action continued in France as the famous Le Mans endurance race intensifies in the early hours of Sunday (15th June).
Porsche lead Audi after 21 hours of racing at the Le Mans 24 hour race in France on Sunday morning (15th June).

    Script:

The 24-hour race - Le Mans - Audi took the lead of Le Mans for the first time with 10 hours to go after Toyota had led through the night and was forced to retire from the race.

The retirement was the first by a Toyota in all three races in this year's World Endurance Championship, although the first two races had been under considerably different conditions and only lasted six hours each.

Kazuki Nakajima's car ground to a halt due to electrical problems, to the disbelief of his support team.

Other teams also endured mixed days.

Porsche #20 spun out of the track and onto the gravel.

#72 Ferrari slammed into the safety barriers and forced the safety car to come out for a time.

As the day begun to heat up, the speed increased. With Andre Lotterer battling hard the repaired number 2 Audi reduced the gap before passing and retaking the lead just after midday.

Moments later the Porsche, driven by former F1 driver Mark Webber, slowed considerably - with possible technical issues forcing the car to a crawl.

So perhaps the dream is over for Porsche? And another famous victory at Le Mans awaits the charging 'four rings' of Audi - as the race enters its final stages....
