The action continued in France as the famous Le Mans endurance race intensifies on Saturday (June 14).

Pre-race favourites Toyota seemed to have the upper-hand over main rivals Audi at the seven-hour point of the 2014 Le Mans 24-Hour race on Saturday.

A collision involving a car from either team proved to be the main talking point of the early action.

Porsche, the returning German manufacturer, suffered reliability issues throughout the day which hampered their progress.

Toyota, having won the opening two rounds of the World Endurance Championship, qualified on pole for this showpiece third-round event and Alexander Wurz led from the front in the early stages, steering clear of a number of incidents and accidents behind him.

The most notable of these was a coming together of Wurz's team-mate Nicolas Lapierre and the Audi of Marco Bonanomi as rain caused problems across the track.

Until that point Audi had come through the early stages unscathed, with their number two car driven by Andre Lotterer moving from sixth to third before capitalising on a spin by Lapierre to go second.

Stephane Sarrazin and Kazuki Nakajima built on Wurz's impressive first stint to maintain a healthy gap at the front of the field as dusk fell.
