  • Intro:

IndyCar owner Ed Carpenter of American held off Australian Will Power after a restart with just two laps left to win the IndyCar 600 at Texas Motor Speedway in his home country on Saturday. The IndyCar 600 Texas Motor Speedway got underway in America on Saturday.

Andretti Motorsport driver Marco Andretti finished last in the 22-car field after his engine failed and the car caught fire while he was trying to get back into the pits.

There was more drama still to come. Justin Wilson and Sébastien Bourdais had a crash in turn three on lap 121. Wilson appeared to be pushed down below the white line coming to the end of the backstretch, causing the Dale Coyne Racing driver to spin and crash into Bourdais.

Japan's Takuma Sato suffered a blown engine that dropped fluid on the track, forcing a third caution.

IndyCar owner Ed Carpenter emerged from the race unscathed and stayed in front of Will Power during a two-lap shootout to take first place. The American, who is competing only on oval tracks and not the road/street courses this season, claimed his third career IndyCar win.
