It was next stop Russia for the World Touring Car Championship for rounds 11 and 12 on Sunday.

In the opening race of the day José Maria López scored a commanding win.

Gabriele Tarquini tried to put the Argentine under pressure at the start of the race, but Lopez saw him off.

Sébastien Loeb finished in third, just 0.2 seconds behind the Honda of Tarquini, while reigning world champion Yvan Muller managed to take fourth place from Tom Chilton on the final lap.

Citroën's newcomer Ma Qing Hua scored his first WTCC points by finishing in sixth, and was unstoppable in round 12 as he made history, becoming the first-ever Chinese driver to win a FIA World Championship race.

López meanwhile stalled on the grid and retired; the first time this season he was unable to score any points.

Some day for Qing Hu and it will be interesting to see how he does in round 13 in Belgium.
