  • Intro:

Alpine skier Bogdana Matsotska, of Ukraine, has quit the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics in protest at Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych and his government. Clashes between anti-government protesters and police in the capital Kiev has reportedly killed at least 28 people and injured more than 200; the worst violence seen in Ukraine since the country was formed from the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Bogdana Matsotska, Ukrainian athlete:
"After day before yesterday when I heard this information, when I not sleeping the whole night... I cannot do this. It's crazy when the president just kill citizens of country. When it's Olympic Games, when it's peace on all the world and we have almost war, it's crazy."
