    An International Olympic Committee (IOC) briefing in Sochi in Thursday addressed Ukrainian athletes' response to ongoing unrest in country.

    SOUNDBITE (English) Mark Adams, IOC spokesman:
    "They weren't forbidden to wear arm bands. The Ukrainian NOC (National Olympic Committee) met with IOC officials informally yesterday, they discussed what should be done and they reached the conclusion. There are other ways of marking this moment. They had a minute of silence, I understand, in the village yesterday, the athletes. So, they were never forbidden to wear black arm bands."
