Olyunin defends himself after taking silver

Thursday, February 20 2014 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Nikolai Olyunin talks about winning Russia's first ever snowboarding Olympic medal.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (Russian) Nikolai Olyunin (Do you regret the mistake you made in the final run?)
"Where did I make a mistake? I came second because of a mistake? At the Universiade, yes I made a mistake. But here I didn't have any mistakes.
Q: But you finished first in the qualification
A: "So Pierre (Vaultier) is a really experienced rider. He has been riding for ten years and then he won the crystal globe and he won a lot of the cups so to lose to him is ok. If I lost to somebody else it might be different. So I didn't make any mistakes but he has more experience and that's it and he said in his comments, and some people just sent this note to me, that if I had met him before the final because I chased him in the final, that in the final he would knock me out. So it's great that I met him only in the final stage and that's a compliment to me."
