Miller's motor home key to success

  • Intro:

US skier Bode Miller spoke about living in his motor home on the FIS World Cup tour, as he prepares in Kitzbuhel, Austria for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

    Script:

Anyone who made their FIS World Cup debut in November 1997 is going to know how to compete at events across the world and ensure comfort.

And for Bode Miller that means living in a motor home rather than staying in hotels.

The 36-year-old prefers the home comforts of customised machine to luxury hotels.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Bode Miller:
"You know, I've been living in motor homes in Europe for the World Cup tour for around 12 years, 10 or 12 years. So, you know I have my own bed, my own pillows and it really is like a home, even though, you know, it's not my home in California, it's home on the road and it definitely makes me feel more relaxed and my energy is better. I have my own space, going from one hotel to the next for five months in a row or more over the course, I've now been racing World Cup I think around 17 years. I think it just would wear me out, this is really kind of keeps my batteries charged."

There was a slight hitch in Miller's preparations for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia though.

The American failed to complete his final race before the Games - a giant slalom event in St. Moritz.

Miller collected three medals in Vancouver in 2010 - and is aiming for more success in Russia too.
