Bach touches down in Sochi

    IOC president Thomas Bach touched down in Sochi on Friday (31st January) ahead of the Winter Games.

    Script:

    Sochi 2014 chief Dmitry Chernyshenko along with lots of volunteers for the Winter Games were present to greet the IOC president Thomas Bach to Russia on Friday as he touched down ahead of the Winter Olympic Games.

    Bach will chair a number of meetings before the start of the Olympics - with an IOC Executive Board meeting planned on 2nd February before the 126th IOC session from 4th-6th February.

    Bach explained that he has no worries about security, despite recent concerns, and expects the event to go ahead without any problems.

    SOUNDBITE: (English), Thomas Bach, IOC president:

    "We have full confidence in the Russian authorities - we have been in contact in all the time of their preparations. We know also that the Russian security forces have very close cooperation with the international security operations and that everything is being done to secure these Games and have the athletes involved enjoying these Games in a safe and secure environment."

    The Games get underway on 7th and run until 23rd February.
