Sweden and Russia met in the women's semi-final of the European Curling Championships on Friday with the winner gaining the right to play reigning champions Scotland in the final while the losers would go on to play Denmark for bronze.

The score was tied at 6-6 after the regulation ten ends and Russia stole two points for an 8-6 victory in the extra end to book their place in the final.

In the men's bronze medal game between the Czech Republic and Denmark, The Danes conceded after the eighth end with the score at 12-4, leaving a proud Czech team to pick up their nation's first medals at a major international curling event.

The 2012 European Curling Championships continue on Saturday with both the men's and women's gold medal games.
