Gearing up for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, the Russian city of Sochi held another World Cup ski jumping test event on Saturday.

There was a familiar sight in the men's event as Gregor Schlierenzauer collected his 42nd World Cup victory to move to within four wins of Matti Nykanen's all-time record.

The Austrian claimed victory, winning with leaps of 104.5 and 105.5 metres for a total of 270.7 metres.

His win closed the gap on German Severin Freund in the overall standings to just 13 points after four events.

Freund totalled 265.4 points after jumps of 101.5 and 105.5 metres.

And completing the podium in Russia was Andreas Kofler for his best finish of the season so far.

The Austrian leapt 102.5 and 103.5 metres for a points total of 264.8.
