16 year-old Takanashi wins Ski Jumping World Cup

    Japanese teenager Sara Takanashi produced a stunning second jump to deny reigning women's ski jumping World Cup champion Sarah Hendrickson from winning in Lillehammer on Saturday.

    Ski jumping season continued in Lillehammer on Saturday.

    Severin Freund of Germany produced a jump of 100.5 metres in the men's event to win with 268.5 points.

    It was his third World Cup win.

    Close behind the winner was Thomas Morgenstern who came second with 267.2 points.

    Only 0.2 points behind Morgenstern, overall World Cup winner Anders Bardal achieved a podium result for the hosts Norway.

    In the women's event, Japanese teenager Sara Takanashi's second effort proved just too good for World Cup champion Sarah Hendrickson. The 16 year old leapt 98 metres for an overall total of 265.2 points.

    Hendrickson could only manage 95 metres in reply for 261.4 points, giving the Japanese ski jumper her second World Cup win in Lillehammer.

    Norwegian Anette Sagen completed the podium places with an overall score of 258.9 points.
