Steve Holcomb drove USA 1 to the four-man bobsleigh world title on Sunday to further enhanced his growing reputation.

    Script:

Cold and crisp conditions greeted competitors on Sunday morning at Lake Placid ahead of the four-man bobsled world title being decided.

After the first three runs USA 1 had a lead of just 0.2 seconds over their German rivals.

Germany 2 saved their best run for last as they clocked a time of 54.18 to put themselves in first place temporarily.

However, Germany 1, lead by Maximilian Arndt, responded well to move into first with a time of 54.28.

That put the pressure on Steven Holcomb and USA 1 to overhaul their German rivals.

Holcomb is fast becoming the best US driver in history after ending a 40-year wait for an American winner of the four man bobsleigh world title three years ago.

Holcomb didn't disappoint as he clocked a time of 53.99 seconds to finish exactly half a second ahead of Ardnt overall, adding the four man crown to the two-man world title he had won a week ago.
