Stevenage earn a point after late drama against Luton

A dramatic Danny Newton header with two minutes remaining earned Stevenage a 1-1 draw with League Two leaders Luton.
Boro lost the reverse fixture 7-1 and appeared to be heading for another defeat when James Collins scored from the spot with five minutes left.
But Newton quickly headed in from Ben Kennedy’s corner to earn their first point in three games.
It was an entertaining end to a game that had looked destined to end in a bore draw after a sterile first half.
But the visitors took the lead in the 85th minute as Ronnie Henry hauled down Collins, who stepped up and sent goalkeeper Tom King the wrong way from the spot.
But just three minutes later Stevenage earned a point as substitute Newton headed home.
Moments later Kennedy thought he had won it after a blistering counter from himself and Mark McKee but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Luton’s lead at the top is down to six points, with second-placed Accrington having played a game less.
