Barcelona And Pixar In Talks Over Animation Film

FC Barcelona and film giants Pixar are in talks over the creation of an animation film about the club.

According to reports in Spain, discussions between the Blaugrana and the Disney-owned company are at an early stage as they look to put together a feature-length film.

However, unlike Manchester City and Juventus, who are both having big fly-on-the-wall documentaries made for Amazon and Netflix, it sounds like it won't be too different to Pixar favourites Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc.

"There is contact between the directors at Barça and Pixar," Rocco Steinhäuser - a respected journalist - told radio station RAC1.

They are negotiations with North American directors. It wouldn't be a film about the history of Barcelona, but an animation film with Barcelona as the protagonist."

Steinhauser emphasised that it's not by any means a small project we are talking about as the film, which would be the first of its kind, would hit the big screens.

Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain are also rumoured to be taking the same steps Barcelona are taking.

In other football film news, a movie documenting the rise of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the way.

With an estimated budget of around 5 million euros, the biopic will tell the story of Ibrahimovic's childhood in a 'harsh, underprivileged suburb' of Sweden called Malmö with his immigrant parents from the Balka, according to Variety.

It will also detail how he left Sweden and came to play for Ajax and Juventus, with Ibrahimovic himself co-producing or executive producing the movie.

In an interview via Variety, B-Reel Films producer Mattias Nohrborg described Zlatan's journey which will be based on his memoir "I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic."

"Zlatan has had an unbelieving destiny; he was brought up in a ghetto where more than 90% of the youth end up being delinquents, and he made everything himself, he's completely self-learned." he said.
