Neymar parties in centre of Paris to celerbate 26th birthday

There were around 200 guests which included friends, family and the Paris Saint-Germain playing and coaching staff.

Football has always been high on the agenda in the French capital, however never to this degree, Neymar arriving accompanied by his girlfriend, Bruna Marquezine, to bring a newfound level of glamour to the sport.

No longer is football just a sport played between 22 players, it's a spectacle and it should come as no surprise after the Parisian club parted with 222 million euros to sign the Brazilian in the summer.

Among the other famous faces present, Lewis Hamilton and the president of Brazil Michel Temer, were both seen at the event.

One of the goals of the party was to provide a show of unity between the forward and PSG, there have been countless headlines about his perceived unhappiness at the club of late, however Neymar believes inviting the club's entire staff shows how strong the bond between them is.

On the pitch the former Santos star is enjoying the best season of his career, he has scored 18 goals and has contributed 12 assists in 17 Ligue 1 matches with a further six goals coming in the Champions League.

When you take into account his three strikes in France's domestic cup competitions, his tally stands at 27 goals in 26 matches in all competitions.

The Champions League is an obsession for PSG, so much so that those in charge of the club want the team to be fully focused on their tie with Real Madrid.

Unai Emery appreciates Neymar's talent on the pitch but was quick to maintain that everybody will be focused on training.

"The birthday celebration is fine," he explained.

"However, the most important thing is training on Sunday morning. Then training on Monday and then Tuesday's game."
