Manchester United Poised For £234m Spending Spree In January Transfer Window: Arsenal Target & La Liga Pair Wanted

Louis van Gaal eyes five new signings worth mind-blowing £234m.
Manchester United look set to splash out an incredible £234m on more big-name signings in the January transfer window, according to various recent reports.
The Red Devils were noted for their heavy spending over the summer as they broke their club transfer record to sign Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, with the Argentine winger joining other big names such as Radamel Falcao, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind in moving to Old Trafford this season.
The flux of new arrivals has not yet led to massively improved results on the pitch, but it would appear that the board are ready to back van Gaal in his ambitious transfer plans as he lines up more exciting additions for the middle of the season.
It remains to be seen if the club will succeed in bringing in all of these players below, but it is expected that player sales will aid the club in their efforts as they reportedly eye these five huge deals in the coming months:
1) Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
In a deal expected to cost a world-record £90m, Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has emerged as a surprise target for Manchester United as they ponder an alternative to his team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.
2) Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)
A further £40m could be spent on the signing of superb AS Roma playmaker Kevin Strootman, who has long been linked as a top target for the club in their quest to find a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes.
3) Gerard Pique (Barcelona)
In a bid to fix their defence, £24m could go on bringing former player Gerard Pique back to Old Trafford as he looks likely to be allowed to leave Barcelona this winter.
4) Julian Draxler (Schalke)
Recent reports also suggest United could rival Arsenal for the signing of highly promising Schalke youngster Julian Draxler in a deal worth £37m.
5) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)
Finally, United are also set to splash out £43m to make Radamel Falcao’s loan move to the club permanent this January, despite the Colombian international proving something of a slow starter at Old Trafford.
