BAYERN MUNICH star Thomas Mueller has written off English clubs chances in Europe, saying: You play TOO MUCH.
HE’S CREAM CRACKERED: Ozil shows the strain
His straight-to-the point verdict comes at the end of a bad week when Arsenal and Manchester City both lost Champions League matches to Bayern Munich and Barcelona respectively.
In Germany and Spain the top clubs enjoy a mid-winter break while in England clubs carry on regardless – with Arsenal’s German ace Mesut Ozil looking KNACKERED in recent weeks.
Mueller, one of the Bayern scorers against Arsenal and a close friend of Ozil, said: “It’s not easy for Mesut because you have to play so many games – I don’t know how many games he has played for Arsenal without having a break.
YOU WORK TOO HARD: Bayern star Thomas Mueller thinks Premier League stars need a winter break
“In the Bundesliga we have just had a month off.
“In England it’s very hard to be a professional footballer.
“You have many more games than we do in Germany. But I hope Mesut has good games for Arsenal because he is a friend of mine and I know how good he can be.”
Mueller also believes the sheer number of games English clubs play is a massive drawback when it comes to the big summer tournaments, like the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
“When England get to World Cups they look a bit tired,” he added.
“The body can recover but the head’s a another story."
