Sport expectations: Ten reasons to look forward to 2010

Champions League (Final 22 May)
Back on the football front and this time it's Europe's premier event. English teams have been so dominant in recent years but this time around they look to have a real fight on their hands. With Manchester United facing AC Milan and Chelsea playing Internazionale in the first knock-out stage, and Liverpool already out, things are looking tough.
Barcelona remain the favourites but as Manchester United found in last year's final - retaining the Cup is no easy task. The most interesting prospect is Real Madrid. Their team-sheet is formidable and if they can bring it together at the right time they could go all the way. If they fail the fall-out will be intriguing. Expect many entertaining Tuesday and Wednesday nights in front of the TV when it gets underway again on 16 February.
