  • Roger Martinez scored two goals as Jiangsu Suning came from behind to beat Beijing Guoan 2-1 in the Chinese Super League on Sunday (21st August).

Second-placed Jiangsu Suning were looking to extend their winning streak at home to five matches, as they took on Beijing Guoan at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.

Beijing took the lead after just 10 minutes, following a calamitous instance of miscommunication between Korean defender Hong Jeong-ho and his 'keeper Gu Chao.

As a result, Turkey international Burak Yilmaz scored probably the easiest goal in his career to make it 1-0.

The hosts could have equalised eight minutes later but Roger Martinez's close-range header was denied superbly by Yang Zhi.

Martinez did manage to get the beating of Zhi just before half-time though as the Colombian forward slotted the ball through the goalkeeper's legs to make it 1-1.

With 14 minutes left on the clock, Jiangsu scored what would prove to be the winning goal.

Zhi was able to stop Li Zhichao's volley but Martinez was on-hand to pounce on the rebound.

The striker is in fine goal-scoring from - notching up his seventh goal in just six appearances in the Chinese Super League.

The victory means that Choi Yong-soo's side remain six points behind the leaders Guangzhou Evergrande.
