Noren in driving seat at Scottish Open

Sunday, July 10 2016 by SNTV
  • Alex Noren holds a two-shot lead after the third round of the Scottish Open on Saturday (9th July).

The Scottish summer reared its infamous head once more on day three of the Scottish Open - rain and a gusting wind making conditions tricky at Castle Stuart.

Englishman Andy Sullivan just managed to see through the mist to produce some eye-catching golf. A round of four-under put him four off the lead.

2008 Champion Graeme McDowell joined him at that score.

The Northern Irishman is no stranger to these conditions, and a 69 on the par 72 course put him in contention.

    His putter was working nicely.

How about his from Danny Lee at the 11th. A lovely tee shot at the to set up a birdie - but it was an all-too-rare moment of brilliance.
A 70 was solid enough, but the Australian left plenty of shots out on course. He was 9-under.

Two players ended the day at 10-under, Tyrrell Hatton and Matteo Manassero.

Italian Manassero shot a 68 - the four time European Tour winner showing a nice touch with the irons.

Hatton was in an inspired mood. The Englishman moved up eight places after a 6-under round of 66.

But out ahead was Alex Noren.

The Swede carded his second successive round in the 60s - a 68 to follow up his 66 from day two - to close two clear at 12-under.
