Landry can't believe dream debut

Friday, June 17 2016 by SNTV
  • As storms delayed play at the US Open on Thursday (16th June), qualifier Andrew Landry admitted that it "hadn't really sunk in yet" as he topped the leader board following a dream debut at the tournament.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Andrew Landry, leader of rain-delayed first round:

"I feel pretty good about it, it hasn't really sunk in yet. You know, I played pretty solid, my lag putting was pretty solid on the greens and I made some good seven, eight footers that helped me keep the round going towards the end, which was really helpful."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Andrew Landry, leader of rain-delayed first round:

"The experience, I mean I can't even describe it right now, but you know I didn't really let the magnitude of what's going on kind of get to me. Once we got on the course, I was fine, but I'm glad we got here a little early this week, to kind of get used to everything because this is something I've never experienced before. You know, just kind of getting in here through the week, there's a lot more stuff going on than what I'm used to in an amateur tournament. You know, we've got courtesy cars, we've got security, a bunch of people around. The people don't really bother me, it's just the other stuff that kind of goes on. It doesn't bother me, it's just something that I'm not used to, like how we're going to get to the course tomorrow is a struggle because we've got to dodge thousands of fans, so that's what I'm going to figure out when I'm done here."
