  • David Goffin beat Borna Coric in the first round of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany on Monday (13th June).
Sixth seed David Ferrer is beaten in straight sets by Andreas Seppi in the 1st round of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle on Monday (13th June) while home favourite Benjamin Becker overcomes Ernests Gulbis, also in two sets.

Fifth seed David Goffin survived a tough contest with 19 year old Croatian Borna Coric to move into the second round at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle.

The Belgian took a tight first set on a tie-break, the match throwing up a number of entertaining rallies.

Coric struck back in the second which also went all the way to a tie-break to set up a decider

Goffin, on his first appearance in Halle since 2013, broke Coric at 5-4 to win the match in two hours and 47 minutes.

David Ferrer entered the court at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle as one of the favourites to win the pre-Wimbledon tournament

But his first round opponent Andreas Seppi took charge in the first set, breaking Ferrer's serve in the sixth game and more than matching his opponents powerful ground strokes to take the opener 6-3

Ferrer continued to struggle in the second set and Seppi served out for a 6-4 win in the second to progress in straight sets.

Later on the same court Benjamin Becker gave the home fans something to cheer when he overcame Latvian Ernests Gulbis to reach the second round of the tournament for the first time in six years

A double fault for Gulbis to finish, he lost the 7-5, 6-3.
