  • Samantha Stosur and Garbine Muguruza reached the semi-finals of the French Open on Wednesday (1st June) after wins against Tsvetana Pironkova and Shelby Rogers. Stosur and Muguruza will play each other for a place in the final. Kiki Bertens continued her fine run at Roland Garros on Wednesday (1st June), defeating Madison Keys in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals, while Dominic Thiem also reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final with victory over Marcel Granollers.

Number four seed Garbine Muguruza achieved a French Open semi-final spot for this first time after defeating Shelby Rogers in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.

Rogers was aiming to create tournament history by becoming the first women's tennis player ranked outside the top 100 to reach the semi-finals at Roland Garros but couldn't manage it and Muguruza goes through.

She'll play Australian Samantha Stosur who's reached the Roland Garros last four for the fourth time in her career after a quarter-final straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory over Tsvetana Pironkova.

The 32-year-old sealing the win 8-6 in the second set tie-break.

With rain playing havoc at this year's French Open Kiki Bertens took on Madison Keys in the fourth round.

She made it into the last-eight after beating 15th seed Madison Keys in straight sets.

The Dutchwoman knocked out Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber in the first round and Keys became her third seeded victim this fortnight in Paris - 7-6, 6-3
