  • World number two Andy Murray defeated Richard Gasquet in four sets to reach the semi-finals of the French Open while Stan Wawrinka eased past Albert Ramos-Vinolas to book his place in the last four. Tomas Berdych and David Goffin reached the quarter-finals of the too, defeating David Ferrer and Ernests Gulbis respectively. Dominic Thiem also reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final with victory over Marcel Granollers.

World number two Andy Murray achieved a four-set French Open victory over home favourite Richard Gasquet in a fiercely contested fourth round match - the Scot winning 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0, 6-2.

Up next for the British number one is the Roland Garros defending champion Stan Wawrinka who it doesn't appear will be giving up his title without a fight

The Swiss player showcased his famous power as he overcame opponent Albert Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets - 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7).

Both him and Murray are aiming to capture a third Grand Slam title each.

Austria's Dominic Thiem reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final, beating Marcel Granollers in four sets.

Thiem's composure on pressure points and all-round quality were enough to clinch victory 6-3, 6-7 (7-2), 6-1, 6-4.

He now faces 12th seed David Goffin in the last eight, himself through to his first French Open quarter-final after defeating Ernests Gulbis of Latvia.

Goffin eventually took control of a rain affected match to become the first Belgian men's quarter-finalists since Filip Dewulf in 1997.

Tomas Berdych dispatched 11th seed David Ferrer in straight sets.

6-3 7-5 6-3 the score, to set up a quarter-final clash against world number one Novak Djokovic.
