Serena & Djokovic through to quarters; Venus misses out

  • Serena Williams dropped just two games as she beat Elina Svitolina to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open on Wednesday (1st June).

    Timea Bacsinszky reached the quarter-finals of the French Open after defeating Venus Williams on Wednesday (1st June).

    While Novak Djokovic came through a tricky four set tie with Roberto Bautista Agut to reach the quarter-finals.

    Finally some dry weather for Roland Garros to recommence after two days on near washout.

    Serena Williams wasted little time in reaching the quarter-finals at Roland Garros on Wednesday.

    She raced into a 6-1 lead in the first set against Elina Svitolina.

    And then the same score in the second set. She's now won 18 sets in a row at the French Open.

    Williams now sets up a quarter-final with surprise package Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan.

    Serena's sister however, couldn't reach her first French quarters in a decade.

    She was well beaten by eighth seed Timea Bacsinszky .

    Novak Djokovic made his way through to the quarter-finals with a four set win over the 14th seed Roberto Bautista Agut.
