Intro:
After six runner-up finishes in her previous 16 tournaments, Stacy Lewis took control in the final round of the North Texas LPGA Shootout on Sunday (4th May), shooting a seven-under 64 for a six-stroke victory over Meena Lee.
Script:
After six runner-up finishes in her previous 16 tournaments, you could've forgiven Stacy Lewis for feeling a little apprehensive going into the final round of the North Texas LPGA Shootout.
Lewis held the overnight lead alongside Meena Lee, but after Lee had bogeyed the opening hole, Lewis put further pressure on with a fine eagle at the 540-yard seventh.
Michelle Wie was another on the eagle charge.
This one coming coming at the par-five 10th - her third eagle on that particular hole this week, on her way to a third place finish.
Na Yeon Choi, the 2012 U.S. Women's Open champion, shot a 69 to end up tied with Kim Kauffman for fourth place at eight under par.
Second place went to Lee, who tried her best to fightback, making a birdie here at the 13th.
But nobody could get near Lewis, who looked in great form throughout.
Even after finding the water from the tee at the 15th, Lewis managed to save par thanks to this impressive shot.
And fittingly, Lewis put the seal on her ninth LPGA Tour title with another birdie at the 18th to sign for a seven-under-par round of 64.
She'll move upto second in the world rankings thanks to her class showing in Texas.
