Rafael Nadal advanced to the semi-finals of the Miami Masters by coming back to beat Milos Raonic 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday.

Milos Raonic stepped on court to face Rafael Nadal hoping he could add a second quarter-final upset to the Miami Masters.

Following on from Roger Federer's loss to Kei Nishikori a day earlier, it seemed like the Canadian was on track as he rode his powerful serve through the first set.

12th seed Raonic took the set 6-4 when Nadal double-faulted on the final point. Nadal losing serve for the first time in the tournament.

But that was the last break point the Spaniard faced.

Raonic hit serves at up to 232 kmph but double-faulted on break point twice in the second set as he found himself 4-0 down before surrendering the set 6-2.

As Nadal secured match point in the third his relief was palpable.

The Spaniard will now face 7th seed Tomas Berdych for a place in the final on Friday.

Nadal has beaten Berdych 16 times in a row over the past seven years.
