  • Intro:

Second seed Novak Djokovic defeated defending champion and sixth seed Andy Murray 7-5, 6-3 in the quarter-finals of the ATP Miami Masters (Sony Open) tournament on Wednesday (26th March).

    Script:

The two old friends - Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray - faced up in Miami for the first time since Murray's Wimbledon twin last year.

Head-to-head the Serbian leads 10-8 and the slight advantage he had there transpired onto the court. A slight error, punished by Djokovic here.

And at set point, the World No 2 looked to have received a fortunate call to take the set. The ever competitve Scot wasn't smiling.

Into the second and the standard continued to remain, yet again Murray just playing that loose shot at crucial moments

Despite an early break from Murray, Djokovic was again controlling the rally with three break points at 4-3 up and Murray would eventually hit an unforced error to give the Serb the lead.

Djokovic went on to win four games in a row, wrapping up a straightforward 7-5, 6-3 victory in just over 90 minutes.

The other three quarter-final matches will take place on Thursday with Nadal and Wawrinka involved.
