Serena Williams and Ana Ivanovic advanced to the fourth round of the Sony Open in Florida following wins over Caroline Garcia and Flavia Pennetta, respectively.

This was not a vintage Serena Williams performance by any means but she got the job done against Caroline Garcia in the Miami Masters third round.
Williams made 41 unforced errors, including seven double-faults and Garcia was causing her problems with some shots hitting 117 miles per hour.
It took two-and-a-half hours but the World number one eventually saw off Garcia winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
It was more straight forward for Serbia's Ana Ivanovic. the number 12 seed impressed as she beat Italy's Flavia Pennetta. She won 6-4, 6-3 and now has a record of five wins and just one defeat against the top 20 players this season.
