  • Intro:

Roger Federer (SUI) eased to a 6-3, 6-1 success over Alexandr Dolgopolov (UKR) in the BNP Paribas Open semi-finals on Saturday. The 17-time Grand Slam champion faces world number two Novak Djokovic (SER) in Sunday's final.

    Script:

Alexandr Dolgopolov was aiming for another giant killing against Roger Federer in Saturday's BNP Paribas Open semi-final.

The first six games at Indian Wells in America were close; Federer winning this point with an emphatic volley.

A wide ace by the Swiss captured the first set 6-3, much to the satisfaction of his wife, Mirka.

Federer then broke the 25-year-old immediately in the second set, with a forehand winner straight off Dolgopolov's serve.

It's been seven months since the 32-year-old was in the top five in the world rankings but Federer showed a glimpse of his inspirational best with this cross-court forehand winner.

That shot was worth the ticket price alone; the seventh seed was well behind the base line.

Federer-- who enjoys playing cards -- eased through the second set, taking just 61 minutes to win 6-3, 6-1. Novak Djokovic lies in wait in Sunday's final, when Federer will be hoping he's the Indian Wells king.
