    Script:

With some of the biggest names in tennis having a bye to the second round, it's a chance for some others to take centre stage in the first round at Indian Wells.

Feliciano Lopez is through to the second round after beating Dudi Sela in two sets. He'll now play Juan Martin Del Potro.

Finland's Jarkko Nieminen dropped the first set against Daniel Brands of Germany, but he recovered to go through 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 - and he plays another German in the second round in 26th seed Florian Meyer.

Nikolay Davydenko was pushed hard by lucky loser David Goffin of Belgium. But he eventually went through to round two.

Davydenko edged the first set on a tiebreak, but dropped the second by 6 games to four.

The former world number three required another tiebreak in the decider, and took it comfortably to secure a match against John Isner in the next round.
