Lleyton Hewitt won an all-Australian round one match at Indian Wells to move within one of 600 tour wins.

    Script:

Lleyton Hewitt is one win away from reaching 600 tour wins after beating fellow Australian Matthew Ebden 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 in the first round at Indian Wells.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the only players to reach the milestone. The 33-year-old Hewitt will face 17th-seeded Kevin Anderson in the second round.

Ryan Harrison defeated Andrey Golubev 6-4, 7-5 to book his place in the second round.

Meanwhile a straight forward 6-4, 6-4 result was enough for Ivo Karlovic to get past Alex Bogomolov Jr.

Earlier in the day Tim Smyczek got the better of Jack Sock over three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-4

And Michael Russell rallied to advance to the second round . He came from a set down to beat Donald Young 4-6, 6-1, 6-2

Juan Monaco was also taken to three sets by Peter Polansky, but he'll be playing against Dmitry Tursunov in the next round after a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 win.
