  • Intro:

Russell Wilson took time from his gridiron workouts to play on the diamond.

Seattle's Super Bowl-winning quarterback participated in a Texas Rangers' workout and will be in uniform for a Cactus League game, although he is not expected to bat.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ron Washington, Texas Rangers manager:

"It's just nice to have a guy around that's, number one, a champion. Number two, he has a deep passion for baseball, just as he has a passion for football."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ron Washington, Texas Rangers manager:

"He certainly has an attitude about baseball also. He was able to go through my drills. I've had quite a few guys that are new at that and go through it and don't usually make it through. But he stayed right with everyone; told him a couple of things he needed to correct and he corrected them. So that just goes to show you that he has baseball aptitude. I was pleased with what he did this morning."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ron Washington, Texas Rangers manager:

"Well you have to play the game. And I think if he'd have played the game he'd have been just as good at this game as he is in football. That's just the kind of person he is. That's who he is. He's a very special young man and he certainly proved that this morning in our 12 minute drills."
