  • Intro:

Andy Murray dug deep to beat Gilles Simon 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 on Thursday (27 February) in the quarter-finals of the ATP World Tour 500 Series event in Acapulco, Mexico.

    Script:

Second seed Andy Murray came back from a set down to beat Gilles Simon in the quarter-finals of the Mexican Open on Thursday.

It is the first semi-final Murray has reached since undergoing back surgery last September, but the Scot didn't have it all his own way, at times showing his frustration.

After losing the first set 6-1, Murray fell behind 2-4 and 3-5 in the second, but recovered with a break at a crucial moment.

Simon had been attempting to end an 11 game losing streak against the 26-year old. But Murray won the second set tie-break to level the match up.

And he then took control in the second, breaking Simon to love in the final game of the match, to wrap up a 1-6, 7-6, 6-2 win.
