Top seed David Ferrer of Spain defeated Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin 6-2, 6-3 on Tuesday (25 February) in the first round of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco, Mexico.

Andy Murray recovered from a poor start against Pablo Andujar to progress in the first round of the Mexican Open in Acapulco.
The Scot continues to work his way back to full fitness follwoing back surgery in September, and lost the first set 6-3.
World number 34 Andujar, proved to be a tough test for Murray, but the two-time grand slam champion eventually came through 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
And Murray reflected on the hard fought victory -

"It's very, very hard even at this time of night - it's one of the most humid places we'll play during the year... so, good to get through that one."
Murray will now play Portugal's Joao Sousa in the second round of the tournament.
Elsewhere top seed David Ferrer of Spain defeated Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets.
Ferrer has thrived on the clay courts of Acapulco, winning three successive titles before finishing as runner-up to Rafael Nadal in 2013.
Ferrer won 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 27 minutes to notch his 250th hard-court victory. Fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez lies in wait, in round two.
