Defending champion Novak Djokovic needed less than an hour to advance to the last eight of the Dubai Championships, courtesy of a comfortable win over Roberto Bautista Agut.

Djokovic, a four-time champion at the event, fired off winners with ease to outclass his Spanish opponent, on the way to winning the first set 6-1.

The Serbian six-time slam winner wasn't easing up in the second either - as he continued to dictate to Bautista Agut.

Although the world number 51 showed some promise, he could do nothing to prevent the top seed's smooth progress to the quarter finals.

Roger Federer is also into the last eight in Dubai, but unlike Djokovic, the Swiss was made to work hard for his win.

The five-time former champion looked in good form in the opening set of his match against Radek Stepanek, taking it 6-2.

However, Stepanek won a second set, which saw both players entertain the crowd with some interesting rallies.

Federer wasn't to be denied though - the 17-time slam champion prevailing in the deciding set thanks to one final break of serve.
