Tursunov's long forehand ensured the world number 19 took the first set 6-2.

Things weren't quite so straightforward for Dimitrov in the second set, which Tursunov won convincingly 6-1.

But the 22-year-old responded by breaking the world number 28 to win the third set 6-4 . Dimitrov now faces Latvian Ernests Gulbis in the next round.

Also playing on the opening round was Jerzy Janowicz and Julien Benneteau.

Janowicz may be 6' 8" but Benneteau broke him to claim the first set 6-3.

But the Pole showed just why he's ranked 19 places higher than his opponent when his favoured forehand clinched the second set 6-4.

The tournament is being held in a Netherlands port and the waters closed in on Benneteau when Janowicz's ace sealed the final set 6-4.

Next up for the 23-year-old is either Fernando Verdasco or Tommy Haas.
