Li Na beats Magdalena Rybarikova 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 in the second round of the Qatar Open in Doha on Wednesday (February 12th).

Third seed Petra Kvitova narrowly beat Venus Williams 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7) at the Qatar Open in Doha on Wednesday (12 February).

Li Na beat Magdalena Rybarikova in the second round of the Qatar Open in Doha on Wednesday.

Australia Open champion Li Na looked to be in control early in the first set storming to a 5-0 lead, on route to winning the first set 6-1.

No matter how Li Na performs at this tournament she will still end up as number two in the world rankings, but Rybarikova did cause Na problems, fighting back to take the second 7-5.

But the number one seed kept her head in the third set to win 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 in two hours and 13 minutes.

Elsewhere third seed Petra Kvitova beat Venus Williams in three sets, to ensure she progressed to the next round.

And in the battle between two former Wimbledon champions Kvitova won the first set 6-2.

Williams did fight back to win the second 6-2, before Kvitova took the decider 9-7, in a tiebreak.
