Sprinter Asafa Powell attended a Jamaican Anti-Doping Committee disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.

The former 100m world record holder tested positive for the banned stimulant oxilofrine at the national championships in June and has not competed since.

Powell is among five Jamaican athletes who failed drugs tests at last year's competition. Training partner Sherone Simpson tested positive for the same stimulant but denied being a "cheat" at her hearing last week, which has been adjourned until the 4th of February. Discus throwers Allison Randall and Traves Smikle and high-jumper Demar Robinson had their disciplinary cases heard last month.

31-year-old Powell blames the positive test on a new brand of nutritional supplements given to him by recently hired physical trainer, Chris Xuereb. The Canadian denies giving Powell any performance-enhancing drugs and claimed Powell was "clearly looking for a scapegoat". It's likely that Powell’s case will overrun and will have to resume next month.
