Roger Federer reached the final of the Brisbane International on Saturday after a three set win over Jeremy Chardy - 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 the score.

    Script:

Roger Federer faced Jeremy Chardy in the other semi-final in Brisbane, knowing Lleyton Hewitt was lying in wait.

The Swiss man was using a larger racket and his "easy on the eye" backhand looked to be on the money in the early stages.

The 7 time Wimbledon Champion won the opening three games and took the first set 6-3 in just 27 minutes.

But Chardy came back fighting, finding his rhythm in the second and levelled the match by winning the second set tiebreak.

Yet at 4-3 in the decider, Chardy hit a couple of wild shots and two double faults gifting Federer a break of serve.

The 32-year old accepted this gift - closing out the match with an ace, winning the third 6-3.

Federer has beaten Hewitt in 16 of their last 17 encounters - and you'd expect him to make that 17 on Sunday.
