  • Intro:

France progressed through to the final of the Hopman Cup on Friday following a 3-0 win over Spain in Perth, Australia.

    Script:

Alize Cornet overcame left hamstring soreness to give France a 1-0 lead over Spain in their Hopman Cup semi-final on Friday.

Cornet beat Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-2, 6-2 in the opening singles.

She dispatched Garrigues in just over an hour and 20 minutes before Jo-Wilfried Tsonga took to the court for his match with Daniel Munoz-De La Nava.

In a tighter affair, Tsonga doubled the French advantage by defeating 194th-ranked Munoz-De La Nava 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-2.

The Spaniard saved a match point in the second set tie-break before going on to level the match at one set apiece, but could not replicate that form in the third set as Tsonga strolled to victory.

With the mixed doubles match rendered a dead rubber, Tsonga and Cornet continued their good form and paired up to defeat Garrigues and Munoz-De La Nava 8-3 in a match tie break.

The win sees France through to the final of the Hopman Cup, where they will meet Poland on Saturday.
