Typhoon survivors watch Pacquiao victory

    Filipinos in the typhoon hit Tacloban city gathered on Sunday (24 November) to watch countryman Manny Pacquiao defeat Brandon Rios to clinch the WBO international welterweight title.

    Script:

    Thousands of survivors from the typhoon that struck the Philippines, gathered to watch Manny Pacquiao defeat Brandon Rios, to clinch the WBO international welterweight title.

    Residents watched on a big screen at Tacloban's Astrodome stadium, as Pacquiao defeated Rios by unanimous decision to take the victory.

    And in the aftermarth of the fight Manny Pacquiao claimed he is ready to fight American Floyd Mayweather, in a long awaited matchup.

    Pacquiao also dedicated his comeback fight to storm victims and promised to visit the city of Tacloban and outlying regions that the storm devastated.

    And one supporter expressed what it meant to the Filopino population -

    SOUNDBITE (English) Reillio Navaro, supporter:

    "I'm overwhelmed because he (Pacquiao) is back again. He is touching the hearts of the Filipinos."

    The death toll for the typhoon has been recorded at over 5,000.
